Catching Up

Yes, we know...it's been a while. No we don't have any excuses. So we will just skip the madness and get on with what we have been doing the past three weeks or so:

"Free at last!!!" Laura has finished her term with Habitat. It was good while it lasted but it was definately time to move on. Friday Laura turned in her flourescent shirts, grabbed her tools and belt, and hit the door running. As for the house, there were some irresponsible decisions on the administrations part and let's just say that none of the houses are quite done yet. For those of you looking at your calendars...yes, the houses are way behind schedule. But alas, you do what you can and pray for the poor soles who have to finish them out. Needless to say, the race has been over for a while, and no one won. In the end Maria and Juan will definately have a happy complete little yellow house.

Monday Laura started her new job with a small architecture firm here in San Antonio. Two miles from the apartment to be exact...she has her wish, she doesn't have to venture out of Alamo Heights ever! So far so good. She's just so happy to be able to dress up in the mornings, sit down all day, and be in the A/C. Life couldn't be much better. Don't forget the most important part...she and Kevin have the same weekends for the first time since they finished school!

Kevin is still hard at work...working on whatever it is that he works on. Most importantly he is still playing soccer every day at lunch and has become quite addicted to playing frisbee with Lilly. He's also been tutoring his sister at math and joining Laura in attending all of the small gatherings to say goodbye to her fellow AmeriCorps members. Not a bad little summer so far.

As for Lilly, other than one puking incident on Laura's bed, she is doing fine. Gets a couple of walks a day, maybe a frisbee play if she is lucky...and lots of cat watching throughout the day.

That seems to be it for now. We have been doing a few fun things here and there but unfortunately we do not have any photographic proof as Laura left her camera in Dallas, and now her mom has it in Colorado. Maybe we will have some Colorado pics to post shortly. Well, enjoy yourselves and stay tuned...We promise there is more to come sometime, just no promises as to when.

Family Visit

Hello Everyone. Hope you all are enjoying your summer and fitting in some time for fun. We have abandoned the thought of a big summer trip in lieu of several extended weekend breaks. Laura's mom, sister and nephew came to town last week for a few days. It was nice to visit all of the kid- oriented touristy sites around town. We had a great time visiting all of the dolphins, belugas, penguins, sharks, sea lions, and of course killer whales at Sea World on Monday. Rode the miniature train around Breckenridge park and visited the Witte museum on Tuesday. Sadly the fun was over on Wednesday as they had to go back up to Dallas, but we greatly enjoyed their visit and are of course welcome back any time... besides there are at least five more godzilla movies sitting here waiting for Noah's return.

Fourth of July weekend was another long enjoyable weekend. We stayed in town and spent most of the time relaxing and catching up on housework. Unfortunately it was way too hot to spend much time outdoors, but we did attend a couple of cook-outs with friends. We heard that there were several fireworks shows around town but didn't quite make it to any of them. Although while we were swimming,we unexpectantly saw a few parts of the San Antonio Country Club/Fort Sam Houston show through some trees in the distance. All in all it was a pleasant, low key weekend with friends. Hopefully we will make it back up to Granbury next year as we always enjoy their festivities.

As for this weekend, we are again having a mini-vacation. We are headed up to Granbury, Ft. Worth, and Dallas through next Tuesday. If you are up there, hopefully we will get to see you and for everyone else we hope you have a nice, cool weekend. Talk to you soon!
