New York
Hello Everyone! Sorry it has been a while since we last wrote, our summer has suddenly become borderline exciting. We have taken a couple of quick trips up to Dallas and Houston, have both been doing some construction, and one of us took a trip up to New York! All in all we have been trying to keep ourselves busy and occupied as to not concentrate on the perpetual heat that has hit South Texas!
Laura's trip to New York was very productive to say the least. She was able to work on a duplex in Queens and a brownstone in Harlem. She played and stayed in Brooklyn the majority of the time, but spent the last few days exploring (aka SHOPPING) in every square inch of the vast playground of Manhattan. She was able to meet up with some old A&M friends and make new acquaintances with the New York HFH AmeriCorps members. She loved the weather and excitement of the big city, but was happy to return home to her familiar territory. Please refrain from asking any questions about the public transportation dilemmas that she encountered...she's just not ready to talk about that yet!
Kevin held up the house quite well while she was gone.He was able to make it to work on time everyday, and he managed to eat three square meals a day, play soccer at lunch, and make it to class! Most importantly however, he was able to spend Father's Day with his father and grandfather outside of Houston.
As for Lilly...she is fine. She is in a bit of a funk wondering why no one has been paying much attention to her, but she is getting back into the swing of things...courtesy of her neighborhood pals Camper, Darwin, Blue, Sandy, Oscar and Woody.
We are all looking forward to an exciting weekend with Laura's mom, sister, and nephew this comig week so stay tuned for further updates!

Memorial Day
We hope that everyone had a nice Memorial Day holiday. We began the weekend with a trip to Moulton, TX for Kevin's family reunion. It was nice to see all of his mother's side of the family and of course get our fill of barbeque and polka music. Sunday we went down to Floresville to visit with family some more...because we hadn't seen them in like 12 hours...or actually because we were hungry and they had more free food! Monday was much more quiet. We decided that Lilly needed some attention so we took her hiking at Eisenhauer Park. After our HOT hike, Lilly chose to rest while we attempted to climb the rock wall...perhaps it would have been wiser for us to just rest as well.
